Kelowna Winter Funderland

OK, we will be first to admit that our Kelowna Winter Tour is our favourite activity to recommend to visitors and locals this winter! However, there are so many other activities for you to participate in while you’re in Kelowna (along with making your tour booking with us, of course). Here are some of our suggestions for getting the most out of your trip to our Winter Funderland!

Stuart Park Ice Rink

The ice may be ‘artificial’ but there is nothing phony about the beauty of skating with friends or family in the open air, under the stars, right beside Lake Okanagan. The rink is open from 6am-11pm daily (weather permitting) through late February. Take a break and warm up beside the firepit, which is fueled by natural gas. No skates? No problem! You can rent skates from the rental trailer, on a cash-only basis. Pro-tip: avoid the crowds & the kids and go for a skate after 8pm as it tends to be less busy. You may even have the whole ice to yourself!

Hiking, Snowshoe Trails & Cross-Country Skiing

The mountains are calling, and they’re right here in the Greater Kelowna area. One of our favourites for hiking anytime of year is Knox Mountain, in Kelowna’s North End. You’ll be rewarded with endless views of the city, the lake, and the surrounding area once you reach the apex. If you’d like to try your feet at snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, we recommend heading up to Telemark Nordic Centre, in the hills above West Kelowna. An abundance of well-maintained snowshoe and cross-country trails await, with rentals available on site. Pack your bag with some snacks and enjoy an outdoor, alpine picnic!

Arts & Culture

Kelowna’s Arts & Culture scene continues to grow and thrive! Our Cultural District was founded on six blocks of former fruit packinghouse lands, and is now home to visual art galleries (public and commercial), performance art spaces, museums, and our library. Keep a keen out for the many pieces of Public Art on display in the district. Each space features its own shows, exhibitions, and special events.

Kelowna Rockets Hockey

LETS’S GO ROCKETS! Hockey fans will delight in the faced-paced action of our hometown WHL team. Watch these athletes in action in Kelowna – you’ll likely be watching future NHL stars!

Special Events

“I have nothing to do when I go to Kelowna” – said no one, ever! Well…at least no one who didn’t leave their hotel room, that is. There is ALWAYS something going on in Kelowna; we love a good party! These events take a variety of shapes and sizes. Tourism Kelowna’s website section on Events has some excellent suggestions…and read on for one we’re particularly in support of!

Dining & Mingling

We LOVE food here in Kelowna! Sure, we’re pretty (humblebrag alert!) but our city is also bursting with talented chefs, cooks, farmers, mixologists, sommeliers, and smiling waitstaff who all fully support the Farm-to-Table movement.

Dine Around Kelowna is on now through February 3, 2019 at participating restaurants, where guests can enjoy 3-course menus costing just $15, $25, $35 or $45 per person. It’s a great opportunity for locals and visitors to leave the cooking to someone else and experience award-winning dining.

Speaking of awards: Kelowna will once again host the Canadian Culinary Championships with the Grand Finale on February 2, 2019 at the Delta Grand Hotel.

Our favourite place for dining in Kelowna? We always recommend checking out the culinary offerings at Waterfront Wines Restaurant! Awarded “Best Restaurant in the Okanagan” 10 years running by Vancouver Magazine.  Chef Mark Filatow and his team look forward to taking your reservation and treating your taste buds like royalty.

Craft Breweries

We can’t say it enough: the best thing after a day of wine tasting is a refreshing craft beer. Kelowna’s Craft Beer scene is heating up, with each location providing their unique spin on the craft beer experience. Some breweries also serve some of the best food in the city.

Get out there and enjoy the fresh air, fresh eats, and fresh fun – there’s lots to be had for all! Enjoy your stay in Kelowna, we look forward to seeing you!
