The Twelve Wines of Christmas: Day 3

2015 Meyer Family McLean Creek Road Chardonnay

Jak and Janice Meyer started making wine from their Naramata Vineyard on old Main Road in 2006. In 2010, they opened their tasting room on their 16 acre property in Okanagan Falls on McLean Creek Road. They quickly gained a reputation for making some of the best examples of Chardonnay and Pinot noir in the country. That reputation is well deserved!

I pulled a wine from the 2015 vintage out of my cellar last night because Shannon had a hankering for a delicious chardy…mission accomplished.

Note: the 2016 vintage of this wine is available at the winery or online at mfvwines.com.

The aromas of this wine literally jump out of the glass. I get lemon curd, buttered brioche, toasted hazelnut and flint. It has wonderful lemony acidity and amazing tension, especially for a wine coming from the hot 2015 vintage. This wine paired perfectly with the chicken pot pie I made last night. It would also be great with buttery seafood dishes like seared scallops with a lemon butter sauce or lobster or crab dipped in warm garlic butter.
