The Twelve Wines of Christmas: Day 5

2016 Lock & Worth Winery Semillon

Have you had the wines from Lock & Worth? It’s a partnership between Ross Hackworth, owner of Nichol Vineyards, and Matt Sherlock, who, in addition to working at Nichol, also imports one of the most exciting portfolios of wine in the country through his company Sedimentary Wine Importers.

Made from vines planted in 1995 in Kelowna. Unfined and unfiltered, it’s a touch hazy in the glass, but it’s got a beautiful straw colour! It’s quite aromatic on the nose, with tropical pineapple, mango and citrus notes of red grapefruit and lime. There’s also a really cool beeswax character to the wine. Texturally, it’s quite full and creamy on the palate, but it also has beautiful acidity. This is a great aperitif wine, but would also be an awesome match for raw seafood, like scallops crudo or toro sashimi. Cheers guys, this wine’s delicious!
